Abstract

In this research, an augmented reality (AR) based inspection system which consists of a see-through HMD and inertia navigation sensors is proposed. The system carried on a human inspector's back displays three dimensional (3D) models of target parts to be inspected and shows helpful information by superimposing on see-through real view. The system is implemented on a small PC and uses inertia sensors. That is no-wired stand-alone system, so that it is applicable to industrial inspection purpose. The system guides him/her about maintenance on the target by showing graphics of maintenance manual's texts and figures.
