An Agent Recognizing User's Body Actions and Keytyping

Here is Japanese Edition.

Concept

This research presents a new human-computer interaction style employed ` Hospitality Agent ' which behaves friendly to users like human-human comunication, and assists user's work. And, it also describes the construction of prototype system based on this style.

Recently, highly-developed information machinery have come into wide variety of daily life rapidly. On the other side, an interface between machinery and users hasn't developed well. As a result, the users have caused burden very heavily. The users, particlualrly end-users lacked their skill and experience on computer, need active support from machinery side by detecting user's difficulty. And, since decline of user work's efficiency would be caused from the lack of familiarity between users and machinery, mental wall should be reduced.

So, I propose a hospitable visual helper, ` ITAWARI ' agent, that is a new agent holding humanity like hospitality, etc. This agent understands user's difficulty by watching user's body action; yawn with arm up. It else watches another kind of user's action which is key typing. In case of the situation that the users feel difficulty, by watching these two kinds of user's actions the agent appears on computer screen and then helps the users.
