"3D imaging system using multiple mirrors for 3D illustrated books"
Abstract
We propose a 3D imaging system with a single camera and multiplemirrors
which enable the 3D shape of a small living animal to be acquired.
In the proposed system, multiple mirrors are arranged around the object
and the camera is located directly above the object.
The single shot image includes multi-view point images: the object that is
directly shoot and the objects that are reflected by the mirrors.
The shape of the 3D object is reconstructed from the multi-view point images
using the silhouette volume intersection, and volume data are textured.
The reconstruction of several 3D artificial or living objects was conducted
in a simulated or a real environment.
The experimental results have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed system
in generating fidelity Visual Hull with texture from arbitrary viewpoints.
We conclude that the proposed imaging system is applicable
to create 3D illustrated books of living objects.
