My Research

Physics-based computer graphics technique is suitable for rendering realistic images of complex phenomena.
In this paper, the authors focus on opal, which shows the complex optical phenomena named `play of color'. To reproduce the play of color, various optical phenomena, such as interference and diffraction, must be calculated correctly. The authors propose a stratified model of structure of opal and develop a multi-channel ray-tracer which has capability to create a photorealistic image of opal.
